Day Trips from Las Vegas You’ll Want to Try

    Grand Canyon

Just several hours in the surrounding areas outside of Las Vegas, there are nine different national parks to choose from. We start with the one that everyone knows about and is a must see anytime you are in the area. Of course, we are talking about the Grand Canyon.

A canyon that stretches for 277 miles carved out over millennia through water erosion and glaciers, the Grand Canyon is one of the great wonders of the world. Its basin is 18 miles across and more than a mile deep. It is truly something that has to be seen in person. You can park and walk as a family or in a tour group. You can even take a chopper tour to view it from the sky!

    Area 51

Do aliens really exist? If they do and if they have been here, many believe that they landed in Area 51 and the government knows it! Whether you are a conspiracy theorist or not, this excursion is not just for the sci-fi fans, it’s for everyone. Like many of the wide-open spaces outside of Las Vegas, the landscape around Area 51 tells a history that dates back for thousands of years.

There are a number of tours that operate out of Las Vegas shuttling groups to and from Area 51. You can drive, bike, or ride horseback along “Extraterrestrial Highway” and you can even take a kayak tour to this legendary UFO site.

    Bonnie Springs Ranch

The kids are going to thank you for taking them to Bonnie Springs Ranch. It is a throwback to the old west where families can participate in duels and gunfights, see Wild West shows, ride on old time trains, go horseback riding, tour museums, and more. This is one of the most fun day trips from Las Vegas if you are traveling with kids. It is only a half an hour outside of Las Vegas and is sure to give the whole family an unforgettable experience.

    Valley of Fire

What is in a name? The Valley of Fire State Park may sound alarming but in actuality, it gets its name because of its beautiful topography. Like fire, the red and orange rock formations and canyons that make up the Valley of Fire offer indescribable beauty and wonder. Once the home of Native Anasazis, you have likely seen images of this incredible geological site in a car commercial or movie.

It is a four-hour day trip from Las Vegas there and back. A bonus to taking a trip to the Valley of Fire is that Lake Mead is only about a 10-minute drive away. This site is a must see for nature lovers and photogs alike.

    Lake Mead

Just down the road from The Valley of Fire State National Park, and less than an hour from the Vegas Strip, is Lake Mead. This man-made wonder is one of the biggest lakes in the world – stretching for 820 miles. In the middle of the desert, when it comes to day trips from Las Vegas, you can hardly beat a massive lake where jet skiing, boating, swimming, and picnicking by the lake make for an amazing getaway from the bustle of Las Vegas.

Are You Ready to Get Away?

In all, these are just a few of the outstanding adventures that you can have when planning day trips from Las Vegas. If you want to visit these sites by plane, kayak, ATV, or helicopter, there are many tours that offer unique travel to these spectacular locations.
